Class Description
Learn the fascinating and healing properties of wild superfoods that are growing in your own backyard: How to use these plants to edify your energies, diet, health, and life; how to preserve and make medicine from these plants; and, how to create healthy and yummy recipes from these wild superfoods. Instructor: Melissa Scianna. We are surrounded by useful plants yet so many of us cannot recognize them or do not know how to use them. In this class, we will: 1. Learn how to find and identify common plants in local yards, fields and roadsides. 2. Learn from live plant specimens. 3. Learn the medicinal and energetic uses and properties of those plants. 4. Learn botanical names and discuss plant relationships. 5. Discuss ethical, sustainable and honorable harvesting techniques. 6. Discuss the common and not so common of use of each plant, i.e., salves, tinctures, fresh teas, superfood recipes, etc. 7. Learn the history and origin of each plant. 8. Develop a level of comfort with each plant. We will cover a minimum of 5 plants per class. All students will receive PDF materials prior to each class with which to follow along, which will include note space and weekly self-review feedback questions. Students who attend all four classes (or who review the recorded Zoom class) will receive a Certificate of Completion from for the "Foraging Medicinal and Edible Plants" course from The Rocky Mountain Academy of Energetic Arts.
