Intro to Astrology: Part 1

Class Description

Are you curious about astrology? Do you know a little and want to learn more? Would you like to be able to discern what’s solid and what’s hype in the astrology posts that flood social media? In this four-week course you will learn building blocks that you can piece together to understand your chart and anyone else’s who interests you: • Why you are more than your sun sign • The basics of the elements, signs and houses and how they work together (illustrating their sequence in a distinctive way that encourages understanding and remembering) • An overview of the planets • An introduction to the “big three” (Sun, Moon & Ascendant) • Where to cast your chart, and how to decipher it once you get it • What the squiggles mean (they’re called glyphs!) If you do not have a copy of your birth chart, you may download one at no cost from Astro.com. All students will receive PDFs of each session’s slides, after each class. An introduction to the planets and to how they work with each other in a chart will follow in Intro to Astrology: Part 2. Called “poetess to the stars,” Kathy is known for her wit, pattern recognition and ability to translate technical concepts into ordinary language. She has been demystifying astrology for mainstream audiences since writing a column about it for her high school newspaper in Southern Baptist territory (and, somehow, not being called to the principal’s office for it). A professional astrologer with more than 35 years experience, she has taught private classes and given presentations to astrological organizations, libraries, bookstores, churches, exposw and institutes across the country. She has also taught business law at Rice University and legal writing at The University of Houston Law Center. Her forecasts appear at EmpowermentUnlimited.net, the Professional Aquarian YouTube channel, and OMTimes.com. She contributed the chapter on astrology to Your Guide to Self-Discovery (Llewelln Worldwide 2023). She won Best Astrologer in the OMTimes Media 2022 Ommie Awards, as well as a Community Award for her OMTimes Media show Celestial Compass. Students who attend/review all four classes will receive a Certificate of Completion for the "Intro to Astrology: Part 1" course from The Rocky Mountain Academy of Energetic Arts.
